Review: Senses Fail – Pull The Thorns From Your Heart.

Senses Fail release new album, Pull The Thorns From Your Heart through Pure Noise Records this week, and releasing news they’ll be touring the UK with Counterparts in October with it and so this is good record to give a listen to right now. You can give the album a listen over on the Rocksound website right now here.

There’s some great guitar riffs running through the record, there’s no doubt, the record opens with a riff in The Three Marks Of Existence, that could wake the dead, however there’s also some great melodies on this record that create a great balance of guitar laden heaviness and melodic rock that this band do so well throughout this album.

Vocal aggression is on much of the album, the raw power behind the voice is incredible on this thing however it’s an incredible screaming voice, however tracks like We Are All Returning Home, with the gentler vocals stands out in an excellent way and this continues on tracks such as My Fear Of An Unlived Life, with a combination of singing and screaming that works perfectly together. Pull The Thorns From Your Heart is a pretty well put together record. Writing wise it can seem simple, but it’s effectively put, and the music really more than makes up for it.

Senses Fail are known for making some great records, and this record is no different, with some big melodies and some awesome vocals, this is Post-hardcore at some of it’s finest. The musicians are truly tested throughout, particularly the guitarists who are second to none on this album. Highlights of this album are, The Importance Of The Moment Of Death, We Are All Returning Home and the eponymous track, however this album is best listened to complete, from start to end, it works incredibly well together.
