Story releases their new EP today, Hopeless But Hoping, the band bring together different influences that include Architects and A Day To Remember on this their sophomore EP and you can see the video for track Article 10 here. You can learn more about Story through their Facebook.
This band go all out as soon as Hopeless But Hoping begins, with huge crunching riffs and drums that give this EP a great foundation of metal melodies and it works for the most part on Story with sometimes a feeling too much is going on. However the band can create some big crashing melodies that keep this EP interesting from the start.
The work of the guitarists in this band is excellent, tracks such as Community are brought to life with the help of the riffs on the track and combined with the vocals, it sound awesome, the band never slowing down the pace at all, it’s a relentless sound and it works. The screaming vocals are raw and visceral and combined with the softer vocals particularly on tracks such as Carry Me Home it really works perfectly, where the pace lessens as it closes and really displays the best of the vocals here.
Story make some great music, the guitars and drums work amazingly well together throughout this record and if you like metalcore, this is the EP for you, the band really bring a level of aggression and a clear vocal that is so rare. Highlights for me are Carry Me Home and Community.
