Review: Amaryllis – Nova Initium.

amarcoverReleasing their new record this week, Amaryllis’ bring us Nova Initium released through Revoltage Music. The pop rockers led by frontwoman Sante Moonie released the video for lead single Thorn recently and you can give it a look here and the band also make a short across the UK throughout May.

Bursting with energy from the start, the band bring some velocity to this record as soon as it begins, with mighty riffs that really create some great melodies throughout. Tracks such as Initium are brought to life by the guitar work on the track – the rhythm section is excellent on this record and certainly supports Moonie’s strong vocals.

These tracks have some huge choruses that work brilliantly throughout Nova Initium. The band’s writing has some feeling, but they certainly make these tracks worth getting stuck in your head, songs such as Drown make it clear this band can write a hook and with the power this band bring on this song, it comes together brilliantly, making it one of the standout tracks on this album. Sante Moonie’s vocals are strong throughout their album with a raw edge that has heaps of attitude. She has a great voice and it shows throughout Nova Initium, tracks such as Rain really highlight the range of her vocals, displaying that softness in her sound perfectly.

Amaryllis create an awesome record here, with some big choruses, great riffs and some excellent harmonies that captures your attention from the start, this band have a great sound and it shows throughout this record. An album that is going to sound great live in the near future, the band really create a debut album to be proud of here. Highlights for me on Nova Initium are All We Have, Drown and closing track Thorn – an excellent end to a great album.

8/10.
