Review: Turncoat – Self Titled EP.

Turncoat release their self titled record this week through Eulogy Records. The record is released on Friday and you can hear singles Pushing Through and Growing up right now and see the video for The Friends You Need right now here.

The agression is there from the start, a deep frustration at the establishment, this EP certainly takes it to them from the beginning with track Own Up. The band really pen some good writing on this record bringing that rage and anger with ease throughout the record.

The band keep up the pace with some big drum runs and some gritty riffs that keep the energy going on throughout the band’s self titled. The band’s drumwork secures that relentless pace going on this record, the beats keep this record alive and the guitars do a good job, particularly on tracks such as American Dream where the two things harmonise together really well.

Turncoat create a relentless barrage of anger and frustration throughout this record and if you like some great hardcore music, this band have made a good start at creating their sound on this record, with some strong writing and excellent drum work that keeps the energy going throughout the band’s debut. Highlights for me on this record are Pushing Through and Own Up.

7/10.
