Review: Ginger Ale & The Monowhales – Bang EP.

gingeraleandthemonowhales-bangMakers of Indie Pop, Ginger Ale and The Monowhales release their EP Friday, Bang. Their sound is fun, and that is made clear by opening track Home, which is the band’s first single which you can see the music video for through the band’s Facebook page here.

This band create some melodies packed with bounce and energy from the start, Home is just the tip of the iceberg on this record, with great synth pop melodies and drum work that really fuses those pop vibes with rock tunes with incredible ease on this record. Let It Fall really is the perfect example of that combination working for this band.

Bang is packed with great melodies, yes, but this band also can create a chorus, that’s certainly the case on tracks such as Home, this band really creating something infectious, and that shows throughout this record. This band is not generic with it’s style of writing, but they have a way of pulling you in, tracks such as White Walls come to mind, which combined with those big beats and soaring melodies works so well on this record.

Ginger Ale & The Monowhales make an incredible listen of an EP on this record, fusing different melodies and pop vibes together to make an outstanding record. Highlights for me on this record are Home and Don’t Talk, however Bang as a whole is a great EP and if you like bands such as The Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Metric, this is the band for you.
