Review: Six Time Champion – More Than Me EP.

sixtime-champion-artworkBrighton pop punk band, Six Time Champion release their new record this Friday, More Than Me. The band who return after a break, have already released a sample of this EP, their recent single Down, which you can see the video for here.

This band pack a punch from the start, with some bouncy guitar riffs that get More Than Me started on opening track Lost and it shows on closing track Doubt too, the band really making it clear the sound they’re trying to make. This band create a great sound on this record, Six Time Champion really do work well together on this record and it shows from beginning to end.

This band keep it simple lyrically, but it is effective as this band get into some great choruses on this track, first single Down really does show this and this followed by tracks such as Every Angle it makes for a catchy record but also a very genuine one.  More Than Me is a very relatable record, keeping a very honest lyricism to the EP that really works for the band. Tracks such as Uneasy take down the pace and really highlight that honest lyricism further.

Six Time Champion make a poignant record with More Than Me, a raw reflection lyrically with some great melodies, these fives tracks are certainly worth a listen particularly if you like bands such as Roam, for example. Highlights for me on this record are Down and acoustic track Uneasy where that simplicity really works for this band.
