Review: You Know The Drill – Losing Streak EP.

You Know The Drill release their new EP Friday, Losing Streak through Scylla Records. This Birmingham pop punk quintet have been making waves and listening to this, it’s no shock why – with great vocals and awesome drum work, they create something brilliant. You can find the video for one the highlights ‘Less Than You’ here.

This band have a great energy and bounce throughout this EP that reminds me of early Blink records, the guitars definitely giving these tracks some great melodies that live will work a treat, particularly on songs such as Less Than You and Repose where the band bring in those riffs to really take up the pace and it sounds good.

Losing Streak also highlights what this band can do lyrically, driven forward by a great raw vocal the hooks on this album are huge, opening track Peer Pressure has a huge chorus and that runs throughout the record. This band however are not all hooks giving some depth to the writing really getting that emotion there, the tracks on this record really about bad things happening and getting through life anyway and they do it well.

You Know The Drill certainly create a great EP here, that really displays what this band do best, huge riffs that bring the energy and big choruses that this band nail throughout this record. Highlights for me are Less Than You and Heads Up, however this whole EP is great and worth a listen.

8/10.
