Review: Homebound – The Mould You Build Yourself Around.

Homebound release their new EP tomorrow, The Mould You Build Yourself Around through Rude Records. The third EP from the band, Homebound have been gaining attention, premiering the first single from the EP, Headspace on Radio One’s Rock Show, a track you can see the video for here.

Straight from the start, the band launch into huge punk riffs that dominate Headspace with ease, the band really accentuating the quality of their rhythm section right from the beginning. The relentless pace of riffs and runs is very good on this record, the band bringing so much power to this EP, it just never lets up.

A very honest and raw EP when it comes to the writing, it’s a very real interpretation of breakups and the impact of that on your life, overthinking is the theme of the record, Pensive definitely the best example of this on this album, with a powerful chorus and a visceral way with words that makes for a highlight on this record and this followed up with Distrait makes for a great listen.

Homebound have so much potential and if you like UK Pop Punk this band is a must listen, this band bringing some excellent writing combined with riffs that give these tracks an energy that is needed with the raw emotion of this record. Hightlights for me are Pensive and Distrait for me, this is a solid pop punk record, and well worth a listen.

8/10.
