Review: Night Club – Scary World.

This week sees the release of ‘Scary World’ the new album from Night Club. A band that’s beginning to come to prominence, Night Club have done some pretty incredible things in a small amount of time, and can be seen currently on tour throughout Europe with Combichrist. Give a listen to ‘Your Addiction’ from the album here now.

The heavy synth and almost techo melodies on this album sound so good and with the almost sweet vocals on the record balances perfectly. Eponymous track ‘Scary World’ has an incredible melody and a fantastic beat that grabs you and with the huge chorus it’s no shock this is the track they took the name of the album from. That theme continues on ‘Schizophrenic’, with dark beats that make you pay attention.

The vocals are almost sweet but deliver some moody lyricism that harmonises with this band’s way with melodies. ‘Blood On Your Blade’ for example is a brutal track with a chorus that is infectious and made to be stuck in your head for a long time to come. The soft, husky tones of the vocals of Kavanaugh delivering such haunting and creepy lyricism makes for such stunning listening, especially on tracks such as ‘Therapy (Get High)’.

This record is definitely going to be put on repeat by me when it’s released on Friday. Dark, brutal and hard to forget, Night Club live with this record are going to be amazing – I would want this band opening my tour too. Highlights for me on this album include, ‘Scary World’, ‘Blood On Your Blade’ and ‘Vampires’ which is a treat near the end of the album and an easy favourite for me.
