Review: Pale Oaks – …I’ve Been Better.

Pale Oaks recently released their new EP, I’ve Been Better. a 4-piece alternative rock band from Athens, Greece, this band create five incredible tracks on their debut record which are reminiscent of bands such as Beaumont. You can give a listen to the EP now through Pale Oaks’ Bandcamp here.

A band with a natural ability with melodies from the start, Pale Oaks certainly deliver when it comes to guitar melodies that really bring these songs to life. Tracks such as Thieves certainly are good examples of this as the guitars pick up the pace and work with the sound the band are creating.

A great vocal too throughout this EP, the band really highlight the vocals on tracks such as Colors where that soft vocal with the lilting guitar melodies continue to deliver in partnership with the voice. Poetic verses and cool hooks on tracks such as Disasters, this band have a good way with words and it shows on these tracks.

Pale Oaks have guitar skills for days and a vocalist that just works perfectly on these songs, the production really showcasing the sound of this band to perfection as you can hear just how well this band work together on this record. Highlights for me on this record are Disasters and Thieves.
